I noticed that I have neglected to offer any 3D Community sites. Here I would like to take a moment to talk about some of the communities out there, I know that some of the listed sites are also sites of 3D programs but they are often times the best source of information for some one who is just starting out. Especially if you are planing on using that particular software. If you feel that I have over looked, or be unaware of a site that you think should be included in this list be sure to send the information Here.

  • I would like to start this list with Blender. The tutorials that are freely offered, including the web-books, are an excellent place to start or pick up any pointers / refreshers. There are also a number of good tutorials on Youtube.
  • Planetside is the place to get Terragen and Terragen2, I am currently only using Terragen.
  • Sculptris has been bought out by Pixel Logic and Z-brush. This is both exciting and sad at the same time, as I always fight for the under dog, but the new ownership can carry the program farther than the creator was willing to, at least on his own. He is now working with Pixel Logic on the new project.
  • I would also point you towards Daz Studios, while D.S. holds a vast number of resources it also houses an expansive community as well as some truly exceptional artists and Vendors.
  • Renderosity is another 3D art community and Marketplace where you can not only find inspired renders, Software specific challenges, and both free and purchasable models.
  • Another site that will both help you stay on top of Industrial news and offer new techniques and helpful tutorials is 3D Total.
